Hedge fund Balyasny hired a coach and fertility expert to integrate its London portfolio managers

Balyasny Asset Management (BAM) is still doing a lot of hiring. In the past year, it's hired over 100 people in London according to data on LinkedIn. Many are in commodities operations. Many are quants. But some are in the curious role of portfolio manager integration and relationship management.

The latter include Alexandra Theis, who has just arrived at Balyasny in London as EMEA head of portfolio manager integration and relationship management. She will seemingly be working with Jessica McMullen who joined to do something similar in June.

BAM declined to comment on what Theis and McMullen will be doing but it presumably involves integrating portfolio managers. BAM has many portfolio managers to integrate. It's hired around 14 new PMs in London in the past year.

McMullen was previously a senior vice president in prime finance at Citi. Theis was previously a director in prime brokerage sales at BNP Paribas. She is also a coach who provides advice on wellbeing and fertility, which may or may not also be of relevance at BAM.
