More specifically, the firm – which develops the AI agent Claude – is looking for a “presentations design lead”. The purpose of the role is to “art direct and design presentations”, as well as establishing and maintaining “design systems, templates, and guidelines.” Basically, what a junior banker does.

The fruits of your labour can be equally bountiful. Aside from work from home 75% of the time, the firm also offers an annual salary of between $305k and $385k for the role, which is on par with what a third-year banking associate earns in total compensation, or a Managing Director earns in salary alone. Anthropic doesn’t mention bonuses for “presentation design leads” in its job posting, but they probably don’t reach the seven/eight figures that an MD’s bonus can.

The downside? Well, you need 10+ years of experience. And proficiency in “motion design”. And experience with live demos and a history of “managing and mentoring designers and contractors.” But, for what it’s worth, Anthropic does strongly recommend applying “even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification”, however.

What’s the culture like at Anthropic? Last year, when most people at the firm were relatively new, there was “no real sense of hierarchy” that created a sense of “weirdness that makes it fun to clock into work."

Hopefully it hasn’t morphed into OpenAI’s partially messianic culture. But, then again, the firm’s head of ethics, Mrinank Sharma, dramatically left the firm earlier this month, saying that the “world is in peril” on account of AI. That seems fine.

At least you’ll be well-protected in the post-AGI world – in a blog post last month, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said that the firm was exploring ways to “take care” of its employees when wealth was practically infinite. “It may be feasible to pay human employees even long after they are no longer providing economic value in the traditional sense, Amodei said.
