Our client is an emerging private-markets investment platform focused on infrastructure themes linked to digital transformation and the energy transition.
They are seeking a hands-on Head of Fund Operations & Compliance to build and oversee the operational, governance, financial-control, and compliance framework supporting the platform's launch and early investment activity.
This is a senior ownership role, not a fund-administration processing position. Although specialist functions are outsourced, you will be accountable for provider performance, operating controls, regulatory readiness, and institutional-quality reporting.
Responsibilities
Lead operational launch planning, milestones, budgets, risk tracking, governance processes, and issue escalation.
Oversee external providers across fund administration, legal, tax, audit, banking, custody, valuation, insurance, and technology.
Maintain operational compliance frameworks, licensing obligations, cross-border controls, conflicts management, registers, and board reporting.
Manage management-company finance, cash forecasting, payment controls, expense allocation, insurance, and internal reporting.
Coordinate fund and vehicle setup, bank accounts, investor onboarding, AML/KYC, capital activity, closings, distributions, and investor reporting.
Develop operational policies, institutional DDQ materials, control evidence, data governance, cybersecurity, and business-continuity processes.
Partner with investment professionals and advisers on transaction execution, closing operations, and portfolio reporting.
Requirements
10 - 15 years' experience in private funds operations, fund finance, compliance, or regulated investment-management platforms.
Proven experience managing outsourced operating models and holding professional-service providers accountable.
Strong understanding of Australian fund-management, compliance, and licensing requirements; cross-border or offshore fund-structure exposure is beneficial.
Experience with fund launches, investor onboarding, capital activity, transaction closings, audits, board packs, and institutional operational due diligence.
Commercial judgement, excellent organisation, and a detail-oriented, proactive approach to risk escalation.
