About the Role



We are seeking two Business Development Senior Specialists to serve as integral members of the Global Litigation & Trial (L&T) Business Development (BD) team. Both roles will work closely with colleagues across the BD department to execute the strategies of L&T practice groups, while developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of the firm's market position, competitive landscape, client base, and litigation capabilities. The scope of each role will differ based on office location:

• San Francisco, Silicon Valley, or Downtown Los Angeles (Global Services Office): Working closely with L&T BD Senior Managers, this role will support the full suite of L&T practices, providing broad exposure to the department's partners, clients, and business development priorities. The Senior Specialist will contribute to high-impact initiatives spanning practice and client strategy, market and competitive intelligence, cross-practice opportunities, and efforts to grow the department's market presence and deepen client relationships.

• New York or Washington, D.C.: Working closely with Practice Group Chairs and L&T BD Senior Managers, this role will support the firm's Intellectual Property, Copyright, Privacy & Cyber, and Communications Practices, developing deep knowledge of these practices, partners, and their clients. The Senior Specialist will contribute to high-impact initiatives supporting lawyers at the forefront of emerging issues affecting AI, technology, and media companies.

Responsibilities & Qualifications



Other key responsibilities include:

• Working directly with partners and other senior stakeholders to advance BD priorities, including preparing for and leading effective meetings, clear communication, and ensuring appropriate follow-through on agreed actions


• Managing projects from planning through execution, coordinating across multidisciplinary teams of lawyers, BD colleagues, and other business services teams to drive initiatives forward


• Staying abreast of developments and trends at the intersection of litigation and technology, and remaining informed of all major new clients and matters


• Providing research, analysis, and reporting to support the identification and development of new clients and the enhancement of existing client relationships


• Supporting the practice groups in routine analysis and reporting of practice and industry competition, market trends, internal financial information, business opportunities, and pitch activity in efforts to develop and implement internal and external strategies both globally and by region


• Collaborating with lawyers, BD, and public relations teams on speaking opportunities, webinars, and other visibility initiatives


• Disseminating relevant sector, market, and client trends internally


• Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

We'd love to hear from you if you:

• Possess knowledge of the litigation landscape


• Demonstrate the ability to execute multiple work streams and manage priorities effectively


• Display the ability to work in a team environment with a customer-service focus

And have:

• A bachelor's degree or an equivalent


• A minimum of four (4) years of relevant business development experience and related analytical experience at a law firm


• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience working within litigation practice areas at a law firm

Pay Range
