About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established lower middle market private equity firm seeking a high-caliber Private Equity Associate to join its investment team. The firm partners with founder-owned and family-operated businesses, providing strategic and operational support to drive long-term value creation.
This role offers significant exposure to all aspects of the investment lifecycle, including deal evaluation, transaction execution, portfolio company support, and exit preparation. The Associate will work directly with senior investment professionals and management teams, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking accelerated development within private equity. The opportunity is based in the Midwest.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate new investment opportunities and conduct detailed industry and market research.
- Build and maintain complex financial models, including LBO, operating, valuation, and return analyses.
- Prepare investment committee memoranda, presentations, and supporting diligence materials.
- Coordinate and manage third-party diligence providers throughout transaction processes.
- Participate in management meetings, lender discussions, and negotiations.
- Monitor portfolio company performance through financial, operational, and strategic analysis.
- Assist management teams with growth initiatives, acquisitions, budgeting, and reporting processes.
- Support portfolio company add-on acquisitions and strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to exit planning and transaction execution activities.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, or a related field.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Experience conducting due diligence and evaluating investment opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record.
