Hands-on accounting leader overseeing financial reporting, expense management, and month-end and quarter-end close activities. Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate financial results, meaningful analysis, and business insights. Ensure compliance, strengthen internal controls, support audits, and drive process improvements. Mentor and develop staff while enhancing reporting efficiency, operational effectiveness, and overall accounting performance.

Job Responsibilities
- Lead daily accounting operations, including AP, cash receipts, general ledger, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and cash management
- Manage the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Oversee vendor accruals and expense recognition in accordance with accounting policies
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare financial reports, non-GAAP schedules, and ad hoc analyses for management
- Conduct variance and flux analyses to explain financial results
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX requirements, and internal control standards
- Coordinate external audits and maintain audit-ready documentation
- Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and ERP system controls
- Partner with Finance IT to improve reporting capabilities and system efficiencies
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and streamline operations
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff to drive accuracy, accountability, and growth
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Illinois
- 6+ years of experience in accounting, public accounting or corporate accounting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience managing or reviewing accounting close processes, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize, multitask and think critically in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
