Established as a law firm in New Zealand in 1998, the firm brings together lawyers, accountants, and trust officers with strong legal and financial expertise. Cone Marshall focuses on helping clients preserve family legacies, plan succession, and navigate complex international wealth structures. With a global footprint of 14 offices in key wealth planning jurisdictions, including the USA, the company serves high-net-worth families with personalized, legally focused trustee services. Team members join a professional environment committed to technical excellence, client confidentiality, and long-term relationships.

Role Description

The Trust Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Singapore, responsible for overseeing complex trust structures and delivering high-quality fiduciary services to high-net-worth clients and their families. This role manages a portfolio of trusts, foundations, and related entities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards. The Trust Director collaborates closely with legal, tax, and accounting professionals to design and implement cross-border wealth planning solutions and succession strategies. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing trust documentation, guiding junior team members, participating in client meetings, monitoring risk, and ensuring accurate reporting and administration. The role also involves contributing to business development through relationship management, identifying new opportunities within existing structures, and supporting the growth of Cone Marshall’s presence in the region.

Qualifications

  1. Extensive experience in trust management, fiduciary services, or private client/wealth planning, ideally within an international or cross-border context.
  2. Strong knowledge of trust law, estate planning, and relevant regulatory frameworks in key wealth planning jurisdictions, with familiarity with Singapore structures considered an advantage.
  3. Proven ability to interpret and draft trust deeds and related legal documentation, and to liaise effectively with legal, tax, and accounting advisors.
  4. Demonstrated portfolio management skills, including oversight of complex structures, risk assessment, and governance best practices.
  5. Excellent client relationship management capabilities, with a focus on discretion, confidentiality, and long-term advisory support for high-net-worth families.
  6. Solid analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including clear written and verbal communication in English; additional language skills are an asset.
  8. Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and guide junior trust officers and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
  9. Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related discipline; professional qualifications (e.g., STEP, legal or fiduciary certifications) are highly desirable.
