Our client, a well- established commodities trading firm with a strong presence in Asia is looking to expand their business within the Asia Pacific region. The firm is looking for a Senior Credit Risk Manager to join them.
Job Description:
- You will lead credit risk related requests, primarily originating from Singapore offices, overseeing risks, rating, limit and mitigation assessments for new and existing counterparties, to ensure that credit risk assessments are complete, relevant and insightful. Direct involvement in review process and write-ups will be required too.
- Review and approve limits and counterparties proposals under delegated authority, or escalating appropriately in accordance with internal risk mandate.
- Leading the group of Credit Analysts based in Singapore and as appropriate, providing guidance and oversight for all Credit Risk team members.
- Managing relationship with Front Office (Originators & Traders) ensuring commercial and credit risk interests are understood and reconciled.
- Understanding and supporting the modelling of potential credit exposure of new and existing transactions by Credit Quantitative Analysts.
- Working with the Legal team in the negotiation of credit terms and covenants in commodity trading and service agreement (MSPA, ISDA, CSA, etc.) as well as credit supports (letters of credit, parent company guarantee, insurances, etc.) directly with counterparties, credit support providers, in collaboration with and support of the company’s Legal and the Commercial Origination teams.
- Identifying and monitoring market trends and emerging events that could potentially impact the credit standing of entities within the counterparty portfolio and/or credit exposures and identify actions to mitigate risks.
- Overseeing and supporting the computation and reporting of key credit risk indicators (credit reserves, credit risk capital, etc.) to various VP, Risk and Senior Management and Shareholders on a periodic or ad hoc basis, as required.
- Providing leadership to the Credit Risk team, to provide a collaborative, cohesive and high-performing work environment for the Credit Risk team, within the context of the company’s Supporting Functions and broader commercial trading activities.
- Leading and contributing to the certain platform improvement initiatives, ranging from new policies, qualitative and quantitative credit risk frameworks and IT tools.
Qualifications:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or Engineer etc.
- Around 8-12 years of experience in a senior credit analyst/manager/senior manager position gained within a commodities trading environment or financial institution;
- Professional experience in at least one energy products, specifically Coal, LNG and/or LNG/Drybulk freight, is a requirement, and exposure to Gas and Power will be a bonus
- Experience in leading teams or managing junior resources and overseeing complex transformation projects;
- Have hands-on experience in negotiating credit risk management structures and contractual terms (supported by the Legal team) and in crafting relevant, insightful, and concise credit documentations will be a strong advantage;
- Understanding of KYC and AML processes and requirements and the inter-dependencies with the Credit Process is key;
- Problem-solving attitude and ability to think critically to manage real-world risks and challenges in complex situations
- Ability to bring leadership to the role, managing various internal and external constraints, while remaining tactful;
- Able to work within strict and tight deadlines and within policies;
