Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Sales Director to lead business development and client acquisition efforts across Singapore and the broader APAC commodities ecosystem. This individual will be responsible for promoting futures and derivatives technology solutions to commodity trading houses, futures brokers, risk management firms, and other market participants.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth, expanding market penetration, and developing strategic relationships across the commodities and derivatives industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the sales and adoption of futures, derivatives, and commodity trading solutions across targeted client segments.
- Identify, engage, and develop relationships with commodity trading companies, futures brokers, risk management subsidiaries, and industrial commodity market participants.
- Understand client business requirements and deliver tailored technology and risk management solutions.
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue and market expansion objectives.
- Build long-term partnerships with key industry stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings to strengthen brand presence and market visibility.
- Collaborate with internal product, implementation, and support teams to ensure successful client onboarding and delivery.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree or above in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Language Skills
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin.
- Able to conduct business discussions, presentations, and negotiations confidently in English.
Industry Experience
- Demonstrated experience within commodity trading, derivatives, futures markets, financial technology, or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of commodity market dynamics, trading workflows, and supply chain ecosystems.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
Commodity & Derivatives Market Knowledge
- Solid understanding of futures and derivatives markets, including hedging strategies, basis trading, and options-based trading structures.
- Familiarity with risk management practices and the commercial challenges faced by commodity market participants.
- Knowledge of physical commodity markets across metals, energy, agriculture, or bulk commodities is advantageous.
Business Development & Relationship Management
- Established network within commodity trading firms, industrial commodity companies, futures brokers, exchanges, and risk management organisations.
- Proven ability to develop senior-level relationships and convert opportunities into long-term business partnerships.
- Strong stakeholder management and consultative selling capabilities.
Solution-Oriented Sales Approach
- Ability to communicate complex technical and business concepts in a clear and compelling manner.
- Skilled at identifying client pain points and positioning solution-based value propositions.
- Experience selling enterprise software, trading platforms, risk management systems, or financial technology solutions would be highly advantageous.
Entrepreneurial & Commercial Mindset
- Experience building new markets, launching business lines, or growing sales functions from the ground up is preferred.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of operating independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of delivering revenue growth and exceeding sales targets.
