Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Legal & Company Secretary, you will join a small and experienced legal team supporting senior stakeholders across the business. This is a broad financial services legal role offering exposure to a diverse range of advisory, regulatory and commercial matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the business on wealth management, investment management and asset management matters.
- Advising on financial services regulatory obligations, including AFSL-related matters, AML/CTF requirements, regulatory change and compliance initiatives.
- Advising on lending, credit and margin lending matters.
- Reviewing and negotiating a broad range of agreements, including investment management agreements, commercial contracts, supplier arrangements and transaction documentation.
- Supporting strategic projects, product initiatives, governance matters and business transactions.
- Providing practical legal advice to executives and senior business stakeholders across a range of corporate and commercial issues.
- Managing external counsel and delivering commercially focused legal solutions to complex business challenges.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will be an experienced and commercially minded lawyer with the confidence to operate autonomously in a fast-paced financial services environment.
You will ideally bring:
- A minimum of 10 years' post-admission experience.
- Strong financial services legal experience gained in private practice, in-house or a combination of both.
- Expertise in financial services regulation and regulated financial products and services.
- Experience in one or more of wealth management, funds management, investment management, credit, margin lending, asset management or private banking.
- Exposure to regulatory frameworks including AFSL obligations and AML/CTF requirements.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
