As part of an exciting new strategy, we are growing our Mid-Market team, focused on supporting clients in the Mid-Market segment. It's a genuinely relationship-driven role: our underwriters engage directly with clients and brokers, building long-term partnerships with key decision-makers and differentiating on expertise, service and strategic value rather than price.

Assistant Underwriters support the growth and profitability of Liberty's surety portfolio. Day to day, you'll conduct pre-underwriting, assist with client and broker meetings, and manage the issuance of surety bonds and the associated administration.
Working closely with the APAC underwriting team, you'll help review existing and new client opportunities in line with Liberty's underwriting appetite.
Relationships are at the heart of the role. You'll establish and maintain strong connections with brokers and clients, supporting the marketing, sale and training of the Liberty brand and products, and ensuring clients receive a level of underwriting service that sets Liberty apart from its competitors.

Key responsibilities
Assistant Underwriters support the growth and profitability of Liberty's surety portfolio. Day to day, you'll conduct pre-underwriting, assist with client and broker meetings, and manage the issuance of surety bonds and the associated administration.

About you
- Previous relevant experience in an aligned role with a bank, financial services provider, or insurance company. Minimum 2 years of experience.
- Excellent working knowledge of PC based systems and applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems for managing contacts, schedules and calendars is required.
- Tertiary qualifications in a related finance or accounting discipline.
- Ability to form quality opinions and make sound decisions based on logical reasoning.
- Be a self-starter who can work independently from time to time and who can cover the key aspects of client service when the Senior Underwriter is not in the office and provide support when needed to the wider APAC team
- Attributes - Self-starter, ability to negotiate, strong time management, financial acumen, strong research, and analytical skills.
